47,700 hectares make up the combined vineyards of this south-southwestern corner of the Iberian peninsula. Jerez, the home of Sherry is significant, while it is Extremadura’s Ribera del Guadiana that’s the youngest and biggest.
Here’s roughly how it breaks down by zone – Malaga 1200 ha + Jerez 10000 ha + Montilla Moriles 7000 ha + Contado de Huelva 4500 ha + 25000 ha Ribera del Guadiana
